Nokia Offers RAW DNG Image Support!

Photograpers have a cause for celebration!

The Nokia Lumia 1020 and the new Nokia Lumia 1520 will be able to save your photos as lossless RAW files (in “DNG” format), allowing maximum flexibility when editing the images on your computer!

It is BIG DEAL because the 1020 and 1520 are the ONLY smartphones in the market that have RAW support!

This is what Adobe, the company that pioneered DNG RAW format say about Nokia's new found ability...

“Adobe is excited to see Nokia be the first to bring advanced, raw imaging technology to the smart phone market by utilizing the openly documented Digital Negative (DNG) format as part of their leadership efforts,” said Winston Hendrickson, vice president of products, Creative Media Solutions, Adobe. “By adding DNG support within the Nokia Lumia 1020 and Lumia 1520, Nokia is dramatically improving the artistic control and flexibility available to their customers.”

 How good is Nokia's RAW?

At this Nokia web site are some full res DNG samples that you can download and judge for yourself.

Just take a look at the resolution! For heaven sake, that was from a mobile phone!!

Look like backlight is not a problem for this tiny sensor and lens!

With the quality like that, how long do you think the regular digital point and shoot cameras will last?

I want one!!   ;)
